China mountain resort development analysis

As research result indicated that hotels around famous mountains are still in the beginning stage for development. “Most people will choose beautiful resorts for holidays, but the rising visitors will require more quantity and quality hotels.” Comparing to urban hotels, resort hotels are quite far behind, which is somehow obstruct the interests of visitors.

In the research, 7 world heritage mountains were chosen to be the research objects which are Huang mountain, Zhangjiajie, Changbai Mountain, Sanqing Mountain, Qingcheng Mountain,Wuyi Mountain and Emei Mountain. From 2006 till 2010, the number of visitors is in a continuous growing speed, the city-level resort Huang mountain, Zhangjiajie and Sanqing Mountain are the first 3 by counting visitors. And also tourism in the above cities had got fast development, the tourism market is relatively mature.

 

While looking at the hotel distribution, we can find that the hotels are all near the resort or located in the center part of the resort city. Most of them are planned by local government and developed by local developers, operated by local management companies. However, some of the top international hotel group become looking through this opportunity.

“Up to now, many developers turn their eyes to mountain resort for hotel development, because of the great potential.” And also, the land cost for mountains are much lower than urban cities, and the off season sales in cities may be the hot season for resort hotels.

However, resort hotels are fully depended on tourism, so developers need to create more outdoor activities so as to attract visitors from year beginning till end. For example, summer can enjoy the activities like fishing, cycling, drifting, and in winter to enjoy skating, hotspring.
